Industry Experts:

Paul Ko, AB'10 Since graduating from the University of Chicago where I studied Economics and Computer Science as an undergraduate, I've developed my expertise primarily around data analysis and creating analytics tools that many people are able to use and readily understand. I currently lead a team of data scientists / developers within LinkedIn's Business Analytics group. I've been with LinkedIn for almost 5 years tackling a wide range of data-related problems. In that time, I've been fortunate enough to play a variety of roles ranging from analyst, engineer, product manager, and data scientist.

Jennifer Li, AB'08  Finance Manager at Google. Jennifer is responsible for managing the financials and economics of Google’s Communications products, including Allo, Duo and Project Fi. At Google, Jennifer works with a variety of cross-functional stakeholders to support the growth of existing products and build business models for emerging products. Prior to joining Google, Jennifer attended Harvard Business School where she received her MBA. Before business school, Jennifer worked in private equity co-investing at the Carlyle Group in New York and in investment banking at Lazard Freres in Chicago.

Donna Padnos, MBA'82 After earning a BS and a MS in Biological Sciences, I worked for three years as a researcher in Pediatric Infectious Disease at Michael Hospital and Medical Center  (MHMC).  But I soon became “claustrophic” in the laboratory and wanted to know more about how the whole hospital complex was run.  So with financial support from MHMC I earned an MBA at the University of Chicago and went on to administrative positions at the hospital.
I worked for 30 years in healthcare management, business operations, and consulting, ending my career at Xerox.  I worked at hospitals - large and small, academic and community, public and private, and at medical groups of all sizes and specialties.  This required a good understanding of government regulations and insurance programs, the ability to design and implement computer systems, as well as project and people management skills.
The combination of my science background and business knowledge provided the foundation for an interesting and rewarding career.

Cory Scott, AB'99 is the Chief Information Security Officer at LinkedIn. He is responsible for production and corporate information security, including assessment, monitoring, incident response, and assurance activities. Prior to joining LinkedIn, he was at Matasano Security, where he led the consulting teams based in Chicago and Mountain View. He has also held technical management positions at @stake, Symantec, and ABN AMRO/Royal Bank of Scotland.
