About the Panelists:
Paulina Chapa, AB '10
As Vice President of Marketing, Paulina Chapa is responsible for building the Dallas Wings brand, creating customer awareness and advocacy and driving customer preference and loyalty for the organization through all channels. In her role, Chapa oversees the management of all aspects of the Dallas Wings’ brand and strategy. This includes digital and social media marketing, advertising and paid media, content marketing, and consumer insights. She also oversees game presentation and live events and directs creative development and agency management, business intelligence solutions, and social responsibility.
Prior to joining the Dallas Wings, Chapa spent five years with the NBA where she supported brand management, marketing strategy, and creative execution for the NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League properties globally. During her tenure at the NBA, she worked on some of the league’s most exciting marketing campaigns and platforms including the NBA’s first-ever integrated marketing platform targeted to the bilingual/bicultural Latino fan, which generated record-breaking results for the Association. Her career in sports marketing began with the Chicago White Sox where she focused on growing the team’s brand and driving ticket sales.
A native of Monterrey, Mexico, Chapa earned her Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Chicago. Paulina currently lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband Agustin and their dog Oso.
Abel Mojica III, AB '91
Mr. Abel Mojica has a wide range of experiences in financial services including asset management, venture capital, investment and commercial banking. He most recently exited his role of Managing Director at Tortoise Capital Advisors, a $20 billion energy focused asset manager which he helped to start in 2003.
Mr. Mojica has over two decades of experience in MLPs and energy infrastructure, first as a private equity investor at Kansas City Equity Partners and later played a key role in the foundation of Tortoise Capital. Mr. Mojica also co-founded Tortoise Capital Resources Corp., the firm’s publicly traded business development company. Mr. Mojica developed the institutional portion of the business which accounted for most of the company’s energy assets under management.
His private equity investment experience included investments in early MLPs: Inergy Partners, LP (NRGY) and MarkWest Energy Partners, LP (MWE). Before moving to the investment side, Mr. Mojica was a high-yield investment banker with First Chicago Capital Markets and a commercial banker with Citigroup.
His professional experience also includes serving as an adjunct faculty member at the Bloch School of Business at the University of Missouri where he taught the graduate Venture Capital Finance course for six years. Mr. Mojica graduated with an AB degree from the University of Chicago and holds an MBA degree from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina.
Moderator from Career Advancement: Linda Yeh-Ostrinsky
Linda Yeh-Ostrinsky is a Business Career Services adviser within UChicago’s Career Advancement Office supporting undergraduate students interested in careers in business. She has over 15 years of experience working in different brand management and integrated marketing roles for firms such as Time Inc., Energizer Personal Care, ConAgra Brands and U.S. Cellular. Linda earned her B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and her M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
