About the Presenter:  
20170919_gradconvo_2565-copy-e1520950022938Michael O’Toole, PhD ‘14 coordinates the GRADTalk program at UChicagoGRAD, helping graduate students and postdocs improve their public speaking skills and prepare for interviews, presentations, and job talks. He recently organized the University of Chicago’s inaugural Three Minute Thesis Competition, working with graduate students to help them prepare concise and engaging three minute presentations of their research. Michael graduated from the PhD program in Ethnomusicology at the University of Chicago, with a focus on music and the politics of immigration in contemporary Germany. Before joining UChicagoGRAD he taught Ethnomusicology and German Studies at DePaul University and the University of Cincinnati, and developed his public speaking skills over several years presenting his research at national and international conferences.
